The Substance of Style
One of the wonders of Web surfing is that one second you're in Seattle, the next you're in Sienna. One minute you're buying (or
laughing about) "Diamonique" at QVC, the next you're reading the classics in the Library of Congress.
One of the challenges for Web designers is to create sites with a strong, consistent brand identity, so visitors always know where they are and don't confuse one site with another. NetObjects Fusion makes this easier than any other program,
because it has an entire section devoted to Style. CNN's Elsa Klensch would be proud. NetObjects Fusion comes with 150 SiteStyles, professionally designed backgrounds, banners, buttons, lines, and icons. If
you don't consider yourself a designer, choosing any of these designs ensures that your site looks attractive and professional.

Here are two styles that come with NetObjects Fusion. On the left is Nautica, an elegant, traditional design. On the right is
Antique, another elegant traditional design. You can change the look of your entire site in a single click if you so desire.Let´s say you have one of those elegant, traditional designs
and you decide you´d rather have something that looked like Lt. Data designed it for Star Trek, the Next Generation. Choose the style called Trek and it all changes to: There´s a lot more where that came from! Want to see them all? Click here.
Do it yourself If you are
a graphic designer, then chances are you're going to want to design these graphic elements yourself. No problem, just create your own style and tell NetObjects Fusion which
GIF or JPG file to use as a banner, buttons, icons, and lines. Once you do, they are used throughout your site. Want to change the graphic look of a site? Just change the style you
created (or choose a different style), and the whole site is redesigned. Again, we're talking "primates" here.Or you can go completely custom, and use the style feature to make your backgrounds and navgation buttons consistent, no
matter how you choose to design them. The good thing about this is that you can change them all in a flash—that´s perfect for when you´re designing a site because you can start building the site even though your "interface" isn´t perfected.
NetObjects Fusion lets you make global style changes to your site, so if you decide that things need to change, you can change them without losing sleep over it. This means you spend more time thinking and designing, less time
implementing, which means your site is better, easier, and faster. Either way, when you add, rename, move, or delete pages or sections, your navigation is updated. NetObjects Fusion
automatically regenerates the text in your buttons to reflect all changes. Change fonts and dance... You can greatly change the look of any existing style simply by specifying that it use a different font. Look at the fonts on your system and choose one that you think would be
appropriate for both your site, and the style you've chosen. You can get some fine fonts for free from Microsoft (of all
people), or find some more from the Free Font Fairy. You also can buy fonts on-line from Adobe, Monotype, Bitstream, FontHaus, FontShop, and many small design foundries. If you want an even more custom look, you can specify a unique graphic button for each page or section. This site uses custom buttons, but still lets Fusion manage them, and setting the correct highlighted button for each page/section. Move a
page to another section, the navgation bar updates automatically. Even when you design your own custom navigation, you
might still want to use NetObjects Fusion-generated graphic buttons for "lower-level" pages. That ensures you get custom graphic buttons, but you don't have to spend your life generating them by hand.
NetObjects Fusion makes it easy to make your site visually consistent, yet it's smart enough to know there are times when you might want it inconsistent, so it gives you the freedom to do what you think is best.
